in this video i’m going to cover my
on-page seo checklist this is the exact
seo checklist i use at adamenfro.com
that help me scale my blog to 500 000
monthly visitors rank for over 380 000
keywords on google and make me over 150
000 a month from my blog that i just
started in 2019 but first let’s face it
on-page seo it’s kind of boring it’s not
the youtube video we all want to watch
none of this is inherently hard but
there are a lot of little details so
it’s like piecing a puzzle together one
piece is easy to click into another one
but if you’re missing just a few pieces
in a 100 piece puzzle it’ll never get
solved no matter how hard you try then
you’ll never rank and we’ll all cry to
the seo gods because some big media site
is outranking us with some crappy
article so after watching this video
you’ll have every piece when it comes to
seo and you’ll never have to watch
another on-page seo video again at least
for a few years because we’re covering
everything in detail in a simple way so
keywords semantic keywords headings
content ux and how to optimize write and
update your posts and everything else
and if you stay till the end i’ll give
you my exact framework and my content
assembly method to rank for more
keywords and master seo once and for all
but before we get started i want to
invite you to watch my free a master
class on how to start a profitable
blogging business it goes over my seo
link building affiliate marketing
strategies exactly how i make over 150
000 a month with my blog so make sure to
click the link and watch that free
masterclass and let’s get into the topic
for today
all right when we think about on-page
seo and what we actually have to do we
have to realize what is a page when
we’re talking about on-page well we’re
talking about the actual words that
we’re putting into one specific article
that can be a wordpress page or a post
but we have to realize that we’re going
after a target keyword and putting that
on the page to rank for this specific
keyword so it’s one target keyword and
yes there’s like different variations of
keywords and topic clusters and those
things but for this exercise we’re doing
one target keyword to one article so to
do that we have to think where are we
going to put this main keyword and
variations of it and how are we going to
tell google what this page is about
because google’s getting smarter google
uses machine learning to understand
which articles are the best and which
ones to rank so as they get smarter they
also expect all kinds of different
contexts and variations of these
keywords and things that make the
articles robust and unique and how
they’re organized and how they’re
structured so there’s a lot that goes
into their machine learning but it’s
actually really simple and we can
optimize posts in specific ways so one
example i want to show you is e-commerce
platforms
so i googled e-commerce platform
something things like bigcommerce
shopify and other tools i actually rank
for that one number five here between
quick sprout and on top of shopify which
is kind of cool so let’s look at this
article and see how it’s optimized for
the term ecommerce platforms so first of
all it’s in the url it’s adamandre.com
ecommerce platforms it’s not the full
title where it has the year in it the
url in on-page seo is the only thing
that you cannot change everything else
can change from the title to the
contents the images the meta description
everything can change but you need to
keep the url the same because that can
get links to it it can do internal links
and you don’t want to change that so
that’s the one thing that you keep and
you just mainly put that target keyword
in the url
after the com
then we’re looking at what where else is
ecommerce platforms well it’s in the
title of the article
um 17 plus best and then it’s in the
first paragraph a couple times here
so it’s in the early parts of the
article and then we see it’s in the
first h2 heading so h2 headings are
really important for on-page seo and
then it’s throughout the rest of the
article so there’s different
you know content here this article i’ve
been updating over the course of years
so it’s pretty long so we see this
scroll bar is like tiny little circle
but we can get all the way down to a
secondary heading so things like
what are e-commerce platforms what are
the best e-commerce platform for seo so
we have a bunch of secondary headings so
when we think about on-page seo you know
you’re going after a specific keyword it
needs to be in the title
in the first paragraph typically in the
secondary headings and then throughout
the content so how do we know how to
actually do this like how do we know how
many times to put it in the article if
it’s two thousand words so i do it five
times ten times eighty times
we use
semantic seo tools so just like i said
google’s getting smarter we can’t
possibly come up with all the variations
and words that we expect a machine to
know so we have to use tools to kind of
trick the machine to think that this is
the best article and to do that
we can use a tool like surfer seo so i’m
going to show you an example here of
another one that i rank for so like i
just wrote this article pretty recently
how to make money on tick tock so
um i saw it was this keyword with a lot
of search volume i have a small tic tac
account i don’t really know i don’t
think tik tok is the best platform to
make money on a lot of people are
searching for it it’s in marketing i’m
like sure i’ll write that article so i
wrote it how to make money on tick tock
and you see the same thing it’s in the
url it’s in the actual title of the
article it’s early in the article it’s
in a h2 heading all of these things and
then we use a tool like surfer seo to
optimize this post for the best type of
on-page seo experience so you can see i
put this article into surfer seo and
it’s how to make money on tick tock
seven simple ways and we can see in the
right hand side bar this is kind of how
you use this tool to optimize your
article it gives it a content score
number of words in the article number of
headings images paragraphs and then look
at this it gives you exactly the terms
that you want to add into this article
and how many times to use them so for
example how to make money on tick tock
uh three times so you would think maybe
oh i want to optimize for this keyword i
need to add it like 10 times not the
case what these machine you know
learning seo ai based tools do is they
scan the top ranking sites for this
keyword and what google is rewarding and
ranking and then they do you know they
figure out how many times each of these
articles on average is doing these
things so that you can optimize it just
like the competition so they’re really
just showing you what what is working
from a google perspective um so that you
can do the same thing
so we can see here like there’s
different variations of the keywords
like tick tock’s creator fun needs to be
in here earn money content creators
other platforms personalized content
making money on tick tock virtual gifts
all these things that you wouldn’t
really think about like except donations
content strategy it’d be hard to come up
with all of these yourself but the
machine learning in google like they see
free stuff marketing emails they’re like
this is a good article so you need to
use a semantic keyword tool like this to
optimize your articles you add you add
one in if i were to go to the next line
and i say how much creators
you can see right here it goes green so
it makes the score rise over time it
gets better and better and then you can
publish your updates
you can also see so not just you know
the words to add in on page seo but also
an outline so it’s got like headings so
you can you know use secondary headings
so like always there’s like one main
heading and secondary headings like how
many followers do you need how to sell
without annoying your audience how much
money can you earn so like secondary h2
headings are these are good ones for
that
and there’s other variations in briefs
like who’s ranking currently so this is
a really good tool simple to use you
basically just say like okay it should
be around this long add all these
keywords in and then
there’s really two main ways then after
we have all these keywords and we have a
good score then we have to really think
about what’s what’s the heading
structure so the keywords are in the
right places the article is written it’s
assembled you can even use a tool like
jasper or outsource it to get like a you
know a standardized content approach to
this
so it’s written the words are in the
right places so how do we format and
structure the titles and the headings so
first we have to talk about the actual
title of the article the h1 heading so
let’s go back to my example on
e-commerce platforms let’s go back to
the top
and we’ll see that i call it 17 plus
best ecommerce platforms of 2022 ranked
and reviewed so there’s two different
types of posts that we’re going to write
as bloggers as people that want traffic
and doing on-page seo the first type is
these transactional list posts so these
are
the you know a main driver of affiliate
revenue a way that you make a lot of
money blogging is ranking for terms like
this these roundup type posts and it’s
there’s really a standard way to write
them so first of all let’s talk about
the title so 17 plus best ecommerce
platforms what i really like to use is
the moz title tag explorer if you just
google moz title tag it’ll show you it
but we can paste this in and check and
now
titles in google search results have a
600 pixel width limit so you don’t want
to go over that because if i were to go
over that amount ranked i say like
compared
and reviewed you can see it then it’s
cut off so we don’t want that because we
do want click-through rate we want
people to click on the article that’s
where the title and the meta description
come in notice i didn’t even mention
meta description because it’s not all
that important from an seo perspective
it’s mainly for click-through rates you
don’t necessarily need the target
keyword in there but you can you know
just create it in wordpress or your cms
just make sure it’s you know long enough
not too short but for a title
you see here that for a best
transactional list post there’s a way to
do a title that’s typically number
people love numbers people love lists
you can see it on all kinds of different
media sites
people usually use that format so it’s
number plus best
plus the target keyword ecommerce
platforms and then this at the end of
2022 ranked in review this is like what
i call search intent trigger words kind
of based on the competition based on
what you think will lead to more clicks
so people like want the latest of the
year and know that they’re ranked and
reviewed so that’s kind of the you know
the way to think about structuring your
title for a best of transactional list
post so it’s that so title
introduction this is all introduction
then you have your first h2 heading and
it’s very simple for this type of
transaction a list post is just what is
the best and then your target keyword
this tells google in the form of a
question what your article is about as
an h2 heading then you have a little bit
of information now you’ll see the list
the actual answers to the question the
companies in that answer in the list are
all h3 headings so this is a way to
structure and format it to get more
featured snippets get pulled into more
content and make it easily accessible
for google because people love lists
these type of list posts need an h2
heading and h3 with the companies
so you’ll see that it’s a standard
format of on-page seo where it’s like
here’s the company here’s a take on it
here’s some content but it’s pretty much
laid out the exact same way every time
with a call-to-action button so we’re
really assembling these articles and we
need to format them that way then when
it comes to an article like
a how-to so there’s transactional list
posts 17 best ecommerce platforms you
know what are the best listing h3s then
we also have how to post an
informational article so here’s one i
rank for on google if we google uh how
to start a blog
you can see i rank somewhere here
right here on page one for how to start
a blog so this one is how i started blog
and made a million dollars in under two
years so this is a how-to post but we
see you know it’s in the url there’s a
variation of the keyword in the title
you see it doesn’t say how to start a
blog here it’s how i started a blog
google’s smart enough they know kind of
the differences of these things and it’s
you know it’s the same basic content so
they know but we can say the same thing
it’s
on page it’s like it’s
in the first paragraph i have a video
about it and then these how-to posts
they’re also list posts so we’re
assembling lists all the time whether
you know any type of article that we’re
writing these are the only two types of
articles you really ever need to write
in any niche transactional posts about
the products in your niche and then how
to do things in your niche and it’s the
same thing it’s going to be you know uh
how to start a blog well here are all
the steps number one two three four five
six seven and you know that’s pretty
much it we’re doing it and then
creating this simple list format of
different things and keeping it
organized and structured for people so
really these semantic seo tools tell you
which keywords and things to put in the
article
but to frame it for human beings and to
make it better from a google perspective
we need to have the correct title
structure make sure that the right h2
headings are in there and then format it
with the right h3 is based on the type
of post transactional or how to after
you’ve optimized your posts you know you
have the right headings in place your
keywords are in the right place you’ve
used server seo we can even take it a
step further and use a tool like
grammarly so here’s one i put in uh an
article on the best gas credit cards for
business for 2022
and look this is another good this is a
free tool grammarly and it helps really
with your grammar and punctuation it can
help make your writing a lot better too
but this one gives you an overall score
and you can see
any instances where there’s
spelling errors or mistakes or like you
know inconsistent punctuation grammar
issues
and uh all kinds of different things and
you can really just you know passive
voice you might use that a lot
like there’s some good passive voice in
here but um you know you can see these
different things then you just fix it so
like we’re using this cashback because
that’s the term in the credit card space
is picking that up we want to change it
we’ll click that and then the score goes
up and it’s calculated and this is
really good because this gives you like
correctness clarity you might find a lot
of like inconsistencies in your writing
style once you start doing it and then
just using tools like surfer and
grammarly combined together um give you
these clear scores so we’re at first
we’re writing for the search engine
we’re writing for google
this is you know the first thing that
we’re doing so to make sure that we get
the right keywords in it and also that
there just aren’t any spelling or big
major punctuation mistakes because
that’s obvious too google can scan this
and be like it’s riddled with errors so
we need to make sure we don’t do that
and grammarly is a good tool to help you
with that after your post is live you
know you publish your article there’s a
few other little tweaks you can do that
are kind of cool one thing is faq schema
so with a plug-in like yoast or rank
math of these tools you can create these
faq blocks with your gutenberg editor
there’s a lot of different ways to do it
but it’s pretty simple and what it does
is when i have this email marketing faq
so this is my article on email marketing
software if i google that i’m also on
page one for email marketing software
but you can see that it actually has
additional
content here it has these little drop
downs
in the search results and these can
actually lead to higher click-through
rates and you know kind of showcases you
on that page to get you more clicks so
you can see that it says can i do email
marketing for free well in my article
down here in the faq i have this one
here can i do email marketing for free
and what you do is you just add a new
you know yoast or an seo block this faq
schema block into your post and when it
is wrapped in that schema markup in
wordpress it starts showing up in the
search results so that’s another cool
thing you can do is use on in on-page
seo is use faq schema to get those
little snippets into your search results
okay so you’ve published your post
you’ve done the right on-page seo your
keywords are in the right place it’s
optimized with surfer there’s no grammar
errors maybe you’ve added some schema
markup or whatever you wanted to do and
you hit the publish button so now what
happens is the work done am i going to
rank on google am i going to start
making money
no not yet unfortunately there’s a whole
you know system to this and a whole what
i call the content assembly line method
that i want to teach you to actually
rank on google because it’s a system and
it’s not just based on publishing so
think about it this way when you publish
an article on google you know you’ve
created new content you publish it where
are you gonna initially rank is it gonna
be on page one no it usually isn’t is it
on page two most of the time no
maybe you know you start when i remember
when i first started i was publishing
things and i’d be on page like eight i’d
be like alright well this isn’t getting
any traffic for a really long time
and i started doing link building so you
can watch my other video on link
building because on-page seo is just
half of the equation right our blog
needs authority as well but you get an
initial ranking so let’s say that i
publish an article on a new keyword and
i’m on page four then what do i do do i
just sit there and do nothing do i wait
what do i do so i want to kind of
introduce you to this content assembly
method because here’s the thing
you’re gonna write a lot of articles
let’s say you write 50 blog posts
not every single one is going to rank
um you know maybe a certain percentage
of them ranked but not every single one
is going to so how do we create as much
content as possible that ranks and make
the most money and rank for the most
keywords well we have to do this in an
mvp format what i call you know like
minimum viable product think of the same
thing for your post a minimum viable
post you know the post that i showed you
on ecommerce platforms was
written years ago and updated over the
course of years to be what it is today
it definitely didn’t rank on google a
couple years ago maybe it was on page
10. but over time you know with updates
and with links and doing all these
things it started to rank so in the
content assembly line method version one
of your article is just basically
written for search engines this on-page
seo is done to appease google index your
article and then get it into the search
results somewhere and this is going to
be based on your knowledge graph and you
know how authoritative your site is but
that’s the initial ranking over time the
more links you build the more you know
better your initial rankings can be but
it’s not going to get you to page one
right away typically so what do we do
well we have to have a clear you know
timeline and a process for all this so
i’m gonna go over that with you and
exactly what i do in the content
assembly line method so first of all we
published the article simple i don’t
expect any traffic though after
publishing the article i basically just
publish it to get it indexed and then
see where the initial ranking is after
that i kind of look at my analytics
maybe a month later and see if they’re
starting to get some trickling of
traffic or see where it is
then i start dictating how much i’m
going to update this article so as we
see like when we google e-commerce
platforms and we look at the search
results we can see these like okay this
was updated january 25th 2022 february
8th mine was six days ago this was
october 2021 november 2021 january 2022
so we see you know
most of them were updated within the
last six months at least
so we don’t update our posts every week
but having a content updating schedule
is really important and knowing which
post to update based on the you know the
uh viability of it ranking is really
important too so
you know you publish post you wait then
you look at your google analytics and
you see okay is it getting any you know
search impressions in google search
console is it getting any traffic or
sessions in analytics even then you kind
of look at hreps maybe or an seo tool a
ranking tool see is it on page three two
all these things
so what you need to do at that point is
you know find out if it’s viable to rank
and then basically you do two things you
either build links to it
you update the content or you do both if
it’s really competitive and you see that
other websites have a bunch of backlinks
to it then you might need a link
building strategy which again i cover in
other link building videos but for this
we have we need a content updating
schedule so maybe instead of 17
ecommerce platforms and having this nice
looking format with all of these five
you know columns across you just have
five you start with five you publish it
you see what happens then over time you
can use server seo you can get that
score higher you can add more content
you can add more secondary headings and
keep updating that content over time so
maybe every three months you’re updating
that article and you’re seeing it slowly
raise up the search engine rankings
that’s going to be based on the
competition based on the link profile of
the other sites you really need to
create a schedule for that because
you’re not going to rank right away you
know no one’s going to see the article
at first but over time you know you can
go from 5 to 7 to 9 to 15 17. uh however
many you know many of mine rank with
just seven you know companies in the
article but you need to have a schedule
for updating because things need to
maintain freshness that’s based on your
niche like if it’s best credit cards
you’ll see a lot of those articles are
like best credit cards of march 2022 so
they even have the month in there some
other articles on
you know camping gear let’s say that
might just need a refresh every six
months because the season you know
there’s seasonality there so it doesn’t
need a ton of updates but you need an
updating schedule so here are the steps
in the content assembly line method
number one do your keyword research
you know find that target keyword that
you want to write an article about
number two assemble the article in a
structured way with the keyword in the
h1 the intro paragraph and the h2
headings next you want to optimize that
post with an seo tool like server seo to
get all the semantic keywords and make
it really good for search engines then
use grammarly to make sure there’s no
punctuation errors finally you add your
meta description add those things and
hit publish so then you published that’s
step one that’s out of the way step two
how do i get this thing to rank and test
the viability of actually ranking with
on-page seo that is you know the next
step which is content updates so the
content updating schedule is really
important and what what happens there is
you know you see the steps for that is
you see your initial ranking you see
your you know where you are are you on
page three on page four where are you
currently and then you create a content
updating schedule so maybe every three
months you go back and add 500 words to
your article or you you know improve the
server score make it a little bit more
readable for human beings which is
really important if you know content
publish one when you publish it is made
for search engines maybe update the the
first update that you do is made for
people so you’re writing in a really
good way maybe you add some hooks and
interesting things to the introduction
but you keep updating and then all you
do is look at your analytics and keep
seeing where you’re ranking is it going
up is it going down is it too
competitive sometimes you toss it like
there’s been some like best vpns i wrote
about i’m still on page like four or
five for that not really worried about
it right now but something that i’m on
page two for maybe at the top of page
two then that’s like a really important
one that i’m gonna start updating more
focus on building some links to and
doing all of that and then over time
it’s the grind of getting to page one so
for example
in my article on how to start a blog if
i look at how to start a blog and i
google that when i see where i am now i
see i’m on page one it took me two years
to get to page one and that was based on
lots of updates lots of link building
adding a video to the content and all of
these things
because when we think about you know
what we’re doing our ultimate goal of
on-page seo adding the keywords in the
right places and doing all of these
things to rank it’s ultimately just part
of the equation it’s like the on-page
stuff can help you tell google you’re
you know a good article but it’s
ultimately
what you need to do is really focus on
the search intent of the article you
know mastering that to end the search
journey because google is getting
smarter and smarter when somebody
searches how to start a blog
you want to end the search journey and
what i mean by that is that they find
your article and then they click on it
they read it and they don’t go back to
google and certain go to another blog
you know that session that search
session is done and really the only way
to do that is to provide the best
content so that is you know you can use
these seo tools but you really need to
go take a step back master search intent
to understand the meaning behind the
search what you want to provide the
reader and then give that in the
clearest best format overall in your
niche so that you’re kind of blanketing
the topic and that somebody feels like
yes i read that article i know kind of
everything about it i feel good i don’t
need to read any more about it that’s
why for example my best ecommerce
platforms article i say there’s best
overall best for small business large
business drop shipping retailers cover
the basis of the content of the topic
itself and people won’t want to go back
and read another article because they
feel like you gave them the best
information so it’s ultimately about
ending the search journey i also get a
lot of questions about the google
product updates that have happened in
2021 and you know ultimately if we’re
doing on-page seo right and we’re you
know we’re talking about doing a search
intent and really future proofing our
site by creating actually creating the
best article you’ll notice this is
ranking but you’ll notice today that it
has five columns across that look nice
it’s got a video going over the best
options and then it’s formatted with my
take you know my top picks all of these
unique things that don’t have to you
know happen out of the gate but over
time you want to create your own unique
content with that product review update
it’s not like worrying about all these
algorithm updates and changing your
strategy for on-page seo my site didn’t
see any dips in those because we’re
focused on the future we’re focused on
future proving the site by doing on-page
seo updating the content having the
right content user experience you know
if it’s a list post it’s going to have
these columns and video and all these
things because to you know
if it’s a product post or if it’s a
certain types of articles you want to
make sure that you’re giving your your
own unique experience so it’s kind of
the use of your own imagery and all
these different things to make you rank
but when we think about on page seo
we covered a lot of it today so we
covered where you put these keywords
what you do how you structure a post um
what tools to use
how to update the content how to look at
your analytics and see does it need
updating doesn’t need links all these
things but it’s a big you know
overarching there’s a lot of pieces to
this puzzle right none of it’s hard
adding you know words to an article
isn’t hard creating a few columns and
blocks and wordpress isn’t hard you know
but it’s the harder part is like
mastering the search intent and truly
being the best answer to the question
because that’s the ultimate goal we can
try to trick search engines by putting
the right keywords in the right places
but if people don’t like the article
they’re going to go back to other ones
so
ultimately you have to master on-page
seo by telling google you’re the best
you know
article in your niche with tools and
with writing and assembling content and
ultimately you need to master search
intent to get the meaning behind the
search give the reader exactly what they
want because that’s the ultimate goal so

intent seo
